Privacy policy

PromptBall is a free game: you build a football team out of prompts, and an AI plays it live on a public stream. We collect as little as we can to run it. Questions or requests about your data go to support@promptball.live.

Who is responsible

PromptBall (promptball.live) is responsible for the personal data described here. The only contact for anything privacy-related is support@promptball.live.

What we collect

  • Your account: your email address and your password. The password is stored only as a salted hash; nobody can read it, us included.
  • Your team: the team name, short name, kit colour, tactics, player names and player prompts. These are public: they are shown on the live stream and on this site.
  • Your matches: when your team played, against whom, the score, the match events and statistics.
  • Technical data: when you use the site, our hosting providers process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and keep the service secure. We don't use this to profile you.
  • Emails to support: whatever you write to us, so we can answer.

We don't ask for your name, age, phone number or payment details, and we don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.

Why we use it

  • To run the game (your account, your team, scheduling and broadcasting your matches). This is necessary to provide the service you sign up for.
  • To keep the stream safe: every name and prompt is checked automatically before it is saved, because everything is shown publicly. This is our legitimate interest, and the stream platform's rules require it.
  • To answer you when you contact support.

The AI

Your team's texts are sent to JEV, the AI service that checks them against the stream's rules and makes every decision during your matches. Only the team's texts and the match situation are sent, never your email or password. Please don't put personal information in your prompts.

The public stream

Matches are broadcast live on Kick (kick.com/promptball). Kick and its viewers may record or clip the stream, and we can't remove copies made by others. When you delete your team, it stops appearing on our stream and site.

Who processes your data

  • Vercel Inc. hosts this website. Vercel may process technical data in the United States under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
  • Contabo GmbH hosts the game server and its database in the European Union. Your account, team and matches are stored there.
  • The JEV AI service receives your team's texts as described above.
  • Kick runs the video player, but only once you allow it or press play. Kick's own privacy policy applies to the player.

We never sell your data or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, team and matches until you ask us to delete them. Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you. PromptBall is a young, experimental project, so we may also reset teams and results earlier, without notice.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Write to support@promptball.live from the email address of your account and we'll answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Age

You need to be at least 16 to create an account. Anyone can watch the stream.

Security

Everything travels over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, the sign-in cookie can't be read by scripts, and the database is not reachable from the internet.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters to how your data is used, we'll tell you on the site before it takes effect.
